Issue 32, August 31 ,2007 What If It Were As Simple As Remembering To
Just Breathe! The Lord’s Prayer was the opening topic of last month’s issue as based upon research by Dr. Neil Douglas-Klotz, an expert in the Aramaic Christian, Jewish mystical and Sufi traditions. He translated the prayer as if came directly from the Aramaic. Remember the story about Jesus where, in the King James version of The Bible, he tells the person who was healed that it was his faith that made him whole? It turns out that, in Aramaic, it would have come out: Your connection to Sacred Unity has made you whole. Just

It Over and Over
The usual human tendency is to have to hear or read things many times before acceptance sinks in. This very normal process occurs when an idea is first introduced. Repeated exposure brings us to acceptance, and finally adoption of the idea. Then changes occur automatically as if by some magical process. It is a magical process in that science cannot explain how, as your attitude shifts, the cells respond as if they were conscious. If they act as if they are conscious, what does that tell you about their nature? Simple

Your mind and body work pretty well until you become overloaded with stressors accumulating in your cells and tissues. The chronic stress then makes you become a shallow breather, wearing upon your immune system. Your blood becomes toxic, and lacking oxygen and energy, your body is unable to defend itself against either internal or environmental stressors. The result is discomfort, disease, disability and premature death. Fortunately for the wise, there is an alternative! You can practice preventative medicine on your own--by doing the things you know to do to support your autoimmune health: Update your beliefs, eliminate toxins in your food and water, manage toxic emotions, avoid toxic noise and breathe!

Audience Just
For Today! The
Soul The higher your consciousness, the more whole your life--and the greater is your access to health and happiness. To increase your consciousness just a little is significant because the increase is logarithmic and represents a transformational shift. Having awakened to the process of awakening, the next step is to heal the body. This step enables the soul in expressing most freely its creativity and joy that become the source-connection of transformation for others. The lower body, housing the gut brain, is harmonized with the head/heart operating as one. The vibratory effect upon others is harmonious, uplifting and, in-turn, transformative. One-by-one each part of the whole sounds his note until music abounds. To review let's look at: The ABC's of Higher Consciousness Attitude--expectant or repellant; positive or negative; open or closed to Life; and embracing as differentiated from resisting; healing or declining; you can get better or you can get bitter. Make it a nice day! Breath--Let your exhale demonstrate the complete surrender to God/Universe of all cares and concerns; becoming non-resistant to the tensions of the body, relax the cells, molecules and atoms. Use your breathing throughout your day, both to re-mind yourself of your spiritual nature, as well as to boost your health and energy. It works! Choice--Either you listen to the voice for Love or the voice for Fear, that of ego. One knows that all are innocent; the other blames and sees the guilty. Teach your brain to tune into the Love channel; access your essence. Choose to awaken, to understand and to change. Your world will thank you. Determination--Nothing happens without your dedicated effort. Even something as simple as breathing requires your participation. To achieve more in life, there must be more invested. Usually all that is required is the gift of time. Determine today that, just for today, you will be the determining factor in your life. Repeat this exercise tomorrow. Energy--All is energy vibrating at different rates. Each lives, moves and has its being in this Energy. It is called Soul, Creator/Source, God, Universe, All That Is. IT is bigger than can be imagined. Focus--What you focus upon grows. Focus upon the joy in your life, express gratitude daily and move forward to meet your dreams. Your deepest dream is of unity, enlightenment, experiencing oneness, realization, actualization, transcendent consciousness. And not of material things. This is why when you get them, achieve, and succeed, you still hunger for more. The most magnificent dream is to achieve full enlightenment. It is a process that continues after awakening. Freedom—In your soul you are free. The challenge is to bring that freedom fully into your life through management of your energy. Your beliefs create your emotions and determine your health. How free would you like to be? What beliefs would be required? Adopt them. Grace--There is a never-ending flow of grace awaiting your awareness so that: Life is more joyous, and the bumps on the path become less disruptive as you learn/remember/awaken into higher mind, beyond that of egoic consciousness. Use your Full Wave Breathing to take you there faster and easier than ever before. Heaven or Hell—You get to choose which state you will engage. If, as the master teachers say, “Heaven is within,” why aren’t you going there more often to visit? What would happen if you devoted (consecrated) 100 breaths each day to you? Would that take you inside; at least open the door? Who among you dares not find out?
Exercise for the Soul
1. Visualize yourself surrounded by light too fine to see. 2. As you inhale, imagine this light glowing and pulsing to a count of three and imagine it making radiating to your core. 3. As you exhale, imagine the light pulsing to a count of two and imagine it radiating from your core. 4. As you continue to breathe with connecting breaths I a 3:2 ratio imagine energy being taken in (inhale) and then distributed throughout your entire body as you exhale. 5. Imagine that you are smiling as you inhale. 6. Now, smile as you inhale. 7. Imagine that you are smiling as you exhale. 8. Now, smile as you exhale. Continue for Seven Minutes or longer, focusing on increasing the size of your energy field with each inhale. (Please write to me and let me know of your result with this exercise.)
Commentary You, as is each person, are a unique individual unlike any other. Your beliefs, if you are the slightest bit awake, are those that you have chosen and not those that you have inherited and unwittingly adopted, been handed to ingest and digest, or had forced down your throats in the name of faith, moralistic rectitude, or the fulfillment of someone else’s agenda. What belief, I ask you, serves you best? Since truth (in a world of illusion created by limitations of sensorial mechanism) is highly elusive at best, what works for you? You can believe the world is a dangerous place or an unhealthy one. Either view will present itself as a self-fulfilling prophecy as your perceptions will shift to admit only those views that you find acceptable and consistent with your beliefs. What if beliefs were optional? What if your greatest responsibility was to adopt those beliefs that served you best—so you could best serve Life itself and your fellow beings—human and otherwise? What if it were up to you to select those beliefs that produced the best biochemisty? The first belief I would offer for your consideration and adoption is: I live in a safe world. Others may not ; you do if you believe it to be so. The popularity of The Secret in both book and DVD forms, not to mention the overabundance of workshops offered to make its simple principle attain the status of a law is no more than this: What you believe is what you get. The problem, according to those who promise remedial results from buying their product or attending their seminar, is that you don’t know what you know—that there is mysterious stuff buried in your subconscious that you, unaided, are unable to access, but that, with their help, there is a solution so you too can be eating rainbow stew from a silver cup and manifest all of the “stuff” your ego mind has enumerated for you on your goals list. Please don’t misunderstand me; writing out a list of goals is a good thing. First you get to see what’s on you mind, or what you would like to have according either to your own real values or those you have adopted from your culture, including parents and teachers. Then, reviewing the list, you can see how “possessing” each of the objects, or achieving those goals makes you feel. It is, after all, the seeking of the feeling that creates the need. By listing your goals and trying them on inside—breathe in their fulfillment or possession--you find out if they fit you. You also get to eliminate those items from your goal or wish list that no longer resonate with you. I once thought I wanted to live by a lake on a tract of high ground with a pool and a couple acres of grass, a lawn tractor, storage shed for all my stuff, etc.---until 6 moths after living there, hiring someone else to mow the lawn with their mower, shutting down the pool because cleaning it daily from the debris that overwhelmed the filter system was a troublesome chore and wearying of the noise and odor from the traffic on the road to the lakeside, I selected something else more suited to my nature. So take time to refine your list of goals. Do be more discriminating and circumspect as you may get what you have asked for.

Questions and Answers A: They both use a directed breath; i.e., controlling breathing with a specific goal in mind. Otherwise, there is not much in similarity. Of historical note, around 1904 Yogi Ramacharaka introduced the “Complete Breath” to the Western world. While it does include the areas of breathing engaged with the practice of Full Wave Breathing it also involves the holding of your breath and counsels the tightening of the abdomen upon inhale. This, as you can imagine and experience, creates an entirely different result than the relaxed exhale of the Full Wave Breath. Further research would lead you to discover that most of the yogic breathing with which the Western world is familiar came out of two books: The Hindu Yogi Science of Breath: A Complete Manual of the Oriental Breathing Philosophy of Physical, Mental, Psychic, And Spiritual Development , Science of Breath and Hindu Yogi Breathing Exercises. Isn’t it amazing also to discover that Yogi Ramacharacka was the pen name of a Chicago attorney, William Walker Atkinson, (1862—1932) and that he authored a dozen or more books on yoga? So where does your yoga come from? A significant figure in the New Thought movement, Atkinson wrote about Hinduism, mind power, self-healing, and occultism, authoring, in addition to the Ramacharaka titles, 7 books in his own name plus publishing a monthly journal. A significant figure in the growth of interest in yoga in the US, he is also thought to have anonymously authored other works including the 3-Volume Kybalion, a study of the Hermetic philosophy. There are more gurus than ever to tell you how to do it; while I’m still telling you that no-one knows better than you. Interesting isn’t it that when I allowed myself to be “the one” who provided answers for you I had people lined up at the doors and booked for private sessions. When I teach that you are The One, people still ask me, OK, what should I do? My response is now and was then, Just Breathe! and do the next thing that comes to you. Each person is “plugged in.” If you weren’t you would be in that state called “dead.” Since you are able to read, you are, presumably, still alive. If you are still alive, you are plugged in. You may not, however, be “turned on” or “tuned in.” That’s where your Full Wave Breathing is so handy. A few full, slow and deep continuous breaths recenters the mindbodyspirit system and quiets the often incessant chattering of the human mind/brain. Then you can hear yourself think, or not think as the case may be. You can allow answers to arise from within. Where do they come from? Maybe that is what is referred to as “the mystery” in traditional religions. Let it be enough that they come from within. When you get an answer, then try it on “for size.” Feel your way into a potential decision with your breathing. Does the decision feel expansive or constrictive? Do you relax when you contemplate taking the action you have selected, or do you feel tension coming over your body? The only downside to the whole business of making your own decisions, getting and relying upon answers from within, is there is no one to blame if you make an error. Perhaps this fear of being wrong, or being criticized—even from oneself—keeps people frozen in their discomfort unable to proceed in life. Yet having no one to blame is the positive side of taking responsibility. You can thus go among your fellow beings without emanating ugly had-it-done-to me energy. You can, of course, share the credit for your success with whomever you like. Inside you will know that you made the decision, you took the step and you are responsible for the success ultimately follows when you follow your inner guidance in the flow of life. Got a problem? Go breathe! Feeling not so hot? Go breathe? Need someone to talk to? Take 100 breaths and call me in the morning. So, if you do call me, I won’t give you answers. I will, however, help you to find the right answer—for yourself—that is already within you. On that note, if you attend any workshops or seminars, expect to come away with greater self knowledge, wisdom and understanding. What I’m about is your empowerment and illumination. Speaking of workshops, the ones in Rhode Island in late October will be the best ones yet. Where ever you are on the planet, it would be worth your investment of time and money to attend—assuming you are desirous of even greater degrees of joy, health and aliveness. WHY

EXERCISE CORNER: The
Single Most Important Exercise is Full Wave Breathing Second, after filling the abdomen (A) shift your focus to your entire belly (B) or midsection, stretching and distending your diaphragm and ribs as you inhale. Relax everything as you exhale. Use your muscles to push out the lower abdomen, then expand the area just above. Third, filling A & B, shift your focus to your chest (C) and above. Having expanded the lower portions of the body, stretch up into the chest and back. Make all of your physical movements gentle and slow. All the movement to become very subtle and gentle as you alternately inhale and exhale without pause. You may find it more comfortable to begin with distinct movements of your body. Allow the process to become like a dance of movement from bottom to top, top to bottom. Later, allow your body to remain completely relaxed as you visualize the movement of energy through you. Repeat often for the most dramatic results. For more detailed instruction, read below:
Step One of Full Wave Breathing Continue breathing with no pause between inhales and exhale. All of the emphasis is upon your inhale. The exhale is a release of the tension created during your inhale. So you will Inhale and relax...inhale...and relax. Continue as you read this instruction to see how simple it is to perform. Breathe through your nose or mouth as you desire. You increase oxygenation by over 50% when you breathe through your mouth because of the normal restriction in nostril breathing. Close your eyes as you are breathing and then relax for a few minutes when you are done. Allow your breathing to normalize before continuing with your activities. You may perform this exercise while sitting at the computer, riding in the car, or even watching television. Start practicing this exercise today and you'll be pleased with your result! To help you stay focused on your breathing, place a book or weighted bag on your lower abdomen when lying down and performing the exercise. If you are sitting, to keep your spine erect, imagine that a rope is attached to the middle of your head. The rope rises into the air. In your imagination, allow the rope to gently lift you up until your spine is erect. Sit straight, be open, and breathe.
Step Two of Full Wave Breathing Count 1 as you inhale and expand your lower abdomen in Step One. Count 2 as you lengthen your inhale and push out the middle of your torso at the solar plexus. Release tension and allow the body to exhale and repeat. Perform this exercise anytime to relax. Do not perform connected breathing when driving or operating machinery. When lying down, place a pillow under your knees, not under your neck. When sitting, allow yourself to stretch and open your spine as you sit and breathe. Close your eyes as you breathe and then relax for a few minutes when you are done. Allow your breathing to normalize and return to your tasks.
Step Three of Full Wave Breathing Count 1 as you inhale and push out your lower abdomen. Count 2 as you raise the breath and energetic focus to your solar plexus. Count 3 as you move your breath and muscular focus up into your chest, stretching your intercostals muscles, shoulders and back of the neck. Relax completely when you exhale, allowing the muscles to soften. There is no effort or tension involved in your exhale. Close your eyes as you breathe and then relax for a few minutes when you are done. Allow your breathing to normalize before continuing with your activities. Perform this exercise anytime you are sitting passively to provide a quick and effective energy boost and relaxation. Keep your spine straight if sitting and allow to your body to move as you breathe and relax. Feel the wave of inhale as air enters your body and the wave of exhale as it leaves. Increase the volume of air and pace of breathing and feel how it affects your experience. Since resolving stress at the cellular level is below our awareness, there are times when the breathing is accompanied by laughing or crying as old chemistry breaks up. Simply keep breathing! Allow your body any movement that arises and remember to relax fully when you exhale, softening all your muscles. Continue breathing at your own pace, deeply and fully. Maintain your own pace and be willing to experiment. Your pace will normally change from day to day and during a session of Full Wave Breathing. Playing music as you breathe helps keep you focused in a gentle rhythm. The Cosmic Waltz, offered by Inspired Living, is the best I know of for this purpose. It focuses on the heart center and expands relaxation throughout the body. International Breath Institute, All material in this ezine is presented as information only
