The Key To Living Fearlessly is to
Just Breathe!
...and then do the next thing.
Just Breathe! the ezine of The International Breath Institute (IBI), is sent to you from Dr. Tom Goode. IBI shows you how to be fully alive and in optimal health through lifestyle management—learning to live in alignment with your holistic nature. We provide shortcuts from science, tips for your health, and reminders about your breathing.
Content
IBI's web site focuses on Full Wave Breathing because it is the single most important exercise for your health. Use it to become fully alive--get well, be well and do well.
Healthcare
You either take care of your health or you don't. If you don't, you become a participant in what is known as "Healthcare," a system predicated upon the study of sick people and focusing on how to "fix" them. It addresses symptoms rather than causes and treats disease as an enemy to be eradicated.
Self-Responsible Self Care
If illness were not your enemy, and instead was a message concerning stressors in your mind and body, how would you treat it? Likely you would cooperate with the body using principles based upon natural health. The first place you might start is with the most basic foundation of life, your breathing.
Your mind and body work pretty well until you start storing stressors in your breathing muscles. Then you become a shallow breather, creating chronic tension that wears down your immune system. Your blood becomes toxic, and lacking oxygen and energy, your body is unable to defend itself against environmental stressors. The result is disease.
Holistic Practices
The foundation of all holistic health practices is deeper, effective breathing, which affects your respiration, circulation, vitality, digestion, assimilation, and more. Breathing affects your entire system. Master your breathing and you master the ability to stimulate your healing resources.
Have high blood pressure? Use your breathing to promote the unimpeded flow of consciousness through every cell in your body. Healing takes place on all levels. Your breathing determines your physical vitality, your emotional calmness, your mental focus and your spiritual awareness. Practice Full Wave Breathing for 30 days, and you will see your life improve.

Acrylamide – a known carcinogen typically formed when high-carbohydrate foods are cooked at high temperature. I have already advised you in my books to avoid these substances because they increase your insulin levels, negatively affecting your blood sugar and leading to fat storage. Resist the temptation!
Words to Ponder
Spiritual consciousness means that when the intellect affirms the Divine Presence the whole consciousness feels the meaning of what the intellect has affirmed. – Ernest Holmes
WOW!
A new study reports that 3,200 sessions at a sleep lab taken over a period of 16 years showed that even mild cases of sleep-related breathing disorders could be used to predict the risk of depression. The sleepers with easy breathing were half as likely to become depressed during the period of the study.
Getting Full Value for Your Medical Dollar?
Those in the UK, Germany, Canada and France spend $2,000--$3,000 per capita for their annual health care. Those in the U.S. spend more than $6,000 per capita and approximately one-third of adult Americans owe on outstanding medical debt.
Fox News Reports:
No scientific study shows that organic foods are safer, healthier or more nutritious than conventional foods. The “organic” label only means that the products were raised inefficiently without benefit of several modern technologies.
How would you design such a study anyway? If it were designed as a double-blind type of event, how would you control all of the factors that you would want to consider? Conventional foods have been linked to a host of states of disease, degeneration and decline. Continue their consumption at your own risk.
Imagine That!
Stress is still linked to at least 70% of all disease. Most stress is found in the mind, based upon mental focus and belief. Control your mind and you control your stress. Control your stress and you enhance your health.
How Much Do You Need?
The American Cancer Society issued new guideline for cancer prevention stating that you need at least 30 minutes per day of dedicated exercise that goes beyond your usual daily activities performed at least 5 days each week. Please remember this is for the average American eating the Standard American Diet (SAD).
Your personal need for exercise is determined by many things including diet, sleep, stress management practices and exposure to toxins in the environment. Avoid pollution, eat healthy, breathe and meditate. Then ask your mindbody system how much exercise you need using kinesiology.
Other American Cancer Society suggestions:
• Choose foods and beverages in appropriate portions to achieve and maintain a healthy weight.
• Eat 5 or more servings of a variety of vegetables and fruits each day.
• Choose whole grains over processed or refined grains.
• Limit consumption of processed and red meats.
Skin Cancer
Having made a study of skin cancer and discovering that most of those with the malady live in the northern states and have it appear on part of the body not exposed to the sun, I conclude that it comes not from the sun, but from the body’s inability to utilize the sun’s rays. This is why cold and flu viruses are prevalent in the winter. In the summer, the sun’s healing rays convert to Vitamin D and kill off the viruses.
When you think about it, this only makes good sense. The viruses don’t magically go away during the seasons when the sun shine. Instead the mindbody system’s natural defenses are fortified by sunlight.
I will suggest that you can both prevent and remedy skin cancer by ridding yourself of all toxins. This means to increase the intake of antioxidants in the diet while avoiding exposure to pesticides, herbicides, preservatives, electromagnetic pollutants, toxic situations and thoughts.
In both this as well as a previous issue of Just Breathe!, I suggested you focus upon joy while performing your Full Wave Breathing exercises. This sends a signal to your cells to reformat so they can better handle the stressors in your life. While simple, it is not easy and there is a complication.
If you do imbibe of the joy vibration, you change your energy field. As a result, you may find those situations which do not bring you joy disappearing from your experience—including people, job and relationships. The good news is that your health automatically improves and your body becomes more responsive to the conditions of your life. The only “bad news” is that your life will likely change. Welcome the changes because your life will improve.
More on Attitude
Mike Adams (www.newstarget.com) announced that a study published in the online edition of the journal Thorax showed the loss of lung power that is thought to naturally occur as people age can be exacerbated by anger and hostility.
670 men between the ages of 45 and 86 had their lungs tested. Those with the highest levels of long-lasting anger had significantly reduced lungpower after the eight years.
Researcher Dr. Rosalind Wright of the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, Mass. pointed out that this study showed "hostility is associated with poorer pulmonary function and more rapid rates of decline among older men," and that, “negative emotions may change biological process, disrupt the immune system, and cause chronic inflammation.”
Nishino Breathing
I came across a method known as Nishino Breathing http://www.nishinojuku.com/english/e_top.html in the early 1980's Visit the site, note how beneficial it has proven to the immune function and then see how you like the visualization used. Then use it with your Full Wave Breathing pattern and see how that feels. Next, imagine that you are drawing the energy up through your feet to a point where your etheric envelop begins. I call this point above the crown the “Soul Star” and feature it in one of the Cosmic Waltz Inner Harmony programs. The results will make you a believer!
Reflexology Sandals
Would you like to have a lazy person’s way of getting the healing benefits of a foot massage? Buy a pair of reflexology sandals. I once knew a woman who, when she began, was using a walker. After a few weeks of wearing her sandals with the reflexology bumps on them, she was able to dance on her own.
I have also used the reflexology inserts for my shoes and prefer the sandals. The ones I use were made by Reebok. Proceed slowly as you begin wearing them. When your feet begin to complain, take a break.

The Duh Factor
Wednesday, October 11
WASHINGTON – Researchers have announced that those who suffer heart attacks and are depressed don’t do as well as those who are not depressed.
Parade Magazine (Sunday, October 8, 2006) published an article in which they cite Yale University research pointing out that “positive thoughts energize the body to walk faster,” and that an “upbeat attitude about aging extends life expectancy.” The article went further to point out that a positive attitude can provide the same kind of benefits as exercise, not smoking, having healthy blood pressure, cholesterol and weight.
This is why I continue to advise you to improve your attitude with Full Wave Breathing! Health will be proven to be a really a simple matter. For now, Just Breathe!
Worth Repeating
Imagine that you are an energetic being living in an energetic world. Imagine also that Joy is an energy that balances your system, stimulates your repair functions and positively influences everything in your life. You’d want more of it, wouldn’t you?
Now imagine that Joy is your nature and that it got covered up, buried in the expectations of others—your parents, teachers and culture. Where did it go? Nowhere! It is still within you!
Your task and function is now to uncover it. The good news is that it isn’t lost. You can use your Full Wave Breathing to recover it.
For the next month, dedicate at least one Full Wave Breathing session to your joy. Intend it, feel it and make it real in your body. Imagine that you are breathing it in to your heart and distributing it throughout your body.
What results can you expect? Let’s start with feeling better—about yourself and your life. Also you can expect that the high frequency energy of Joy would transmit to others around your without effort. Would this improve your life? You bet…and don’t take my word for it. Put the practice into action and see for yourself what happens.
It will either work or it won’t. When it does, you will have a method for managing your thoughts and emotions that produces a reliable result. If it doesn’t work, you will be able to conclude that you are wasting your time with the process and can look for something else. (Hint—it will work if you do.)
Are You Watching Your Weight Gradually Increase?
A high-protein diet helps with weight loss because protein makes you feel fuller, longer. And a London researcher reveals another reason, a hormone in protein called PYY: Says, Dr. Rachel Batterman, "Increasing the protein content of the diet augments the body's own PYY, helping to reduce hunger and aid weight loss”.

Healthcare Update
Isn’t amazing how every month we learn of a new drug, herb or supplement that promises to cure you of what ails you? The pharmaceutical industry is ever creative, but not more so than the other allopathic purveyors of their natural remedies. Both seem to forget that you have not just a physical body, but a mindbody system that works—in your case, uniquely—and as one whole system.
The answer to what to take lies within you. I suggest you begin to muscle test. Using applied kinesiology isn’t difficult and there are many methods. Perhaps the easiest to apply utilizes Full Wave Breathing to center yourself followed by the test. Here’s how:
Take 3 Full Wave Breaths and, centered within, ask your system to show you a “Yes” answer as you rub the top of your thumb of your master hand lightly in a circular motion with your index finger. You will feel either a smoothness or a roughness. Now ask for your system to show you a “Not Yes” answer performing the same motion and see what results. Check yourself a couple of times to make sure. Then you will have a system you can rely upon when choosing options for your supplements and your health. You are, after all, the final authority for your life. Exercise it!.
Longevity
As indicated in the Duh Factor, your attitude plays not just a vital part in your health, but one of inestimatable value. Keep your attitude up with your Full Wave Breathing and if you’d like to know how with my body having clocked 67 years I still maintain the heart health of a 30 year old and the cellular health of one in his 20’s ready my new Fully Alive! ebook

Behind The Curtain
If there were order in the Universe, then everything would happen for a reason. You have probably heard this before and it’s true. So if things in our life become difficult it is time for self-examination.
Your condition of pain, failing health or awkward finances may just be the Universe attempting to get your attention. Each of us is unique in the way we receive information.
To change your consciousness and to be more sensitive to Universal signals before finances, relationships or health fails is a splendid idea. However, it is not something you can just will to happen any more than you can will a flower to bloom. Instead, you and the flower will both bloom when you get to that particular stage of development and unfoldment.
To assist you to get there NOW is the purpose of my services—ezine, books, cd’s, workshops, counseling and mentoring. You require both nourishment and support to realize (make real) your divine potential and bloom as the flower you are. It is my privilege to assist you. Call upon me...and
Keep breathing!

EXERCISE CORNER:
Full Wave Breathing is a natural, drug-free, and dramatically effective way to experience health, joy and aliveness that mobilizes and supports your progression toward balance and wholeness. It is a method which accelerates and complements modern healthcare and treatment practices. Use it to inspire yourself so you can inspire others!
The Single Most Important Exercise
is Full Wave Breathing
There are 3 Steps, simple as A B C: Abdomen, Belly, and Chest. First, breathe into the lower abdomen and keep your focus there until you can comfortably fill and relax that area of the body. Use your muscles to expand your lower abdomen, beginning at the top or your pubic bone. Second, after filling the abdomen (A) shift your focus to your entire belly (B) or midsection, stretching and distending your diaphragm and ribs as you inhale. Relax everything as you exhale. Use your muscles to push out the lower abdomen, then expand the area just above.
Third, filling A & B, shift your focus to your chest (C) and above. Having expanded the lower portions of the body, stretch up into the chest and back. Make all of your physical movements gentle and slow. All the movement to become very subtle and gentle as you alternately inhale and exhale without pause.
You may find it more comfortable to begin with distinct movements of your body. Allow the process to become like a dance of movement from bottom to top, top to bottom. Later, allow your body to remain completely relaxed as you visualize the movement of energy through you.
Repeat often for the most dramatic results. For more detailed instruction, read below:
Step One of Full Wave Breathing
Place one hand on the abdomen below the navel and the other on the chest. As you inhale, hold the chest still; allowing the abdomen to expand as if you is filling a balloon. Stretch and extend the lower belly. Relax completely into an inhale at the point where the abdomen is distended fully and the lungs are filled. After exhaling, inhale immediately. The chest does not move at all.
Continue breathing with no pause between inhales and exhale. All of the emphasis is upon your inhale. The exhale is a release of the tension created during your inhale. So you will Inhale and relax...inhale...and relax. Continue as you read this instruction to see how simple it is to perform. Breathe through your nose or mouth as you desire. You increase oxygenation by over 50% when you breathe through your mouth because of the normal restriction in nostril breathing.
Close your eyes as you are breathing and then relax for a few minutes when you are done. Allow your breathing to normalize before continuing with your activities. You may perform this exercise while sitting at the computer, riding in the car, or even watching television. Start practicing this exercise today and you'll be pleased with your result!
To help you stay focused on your breathing, place a book or weighted bag on your lower abdomen when lying down and performing the exercise. If you are sitting, to keep your spine erect, imagine that a rope is attached to the middle of your head. The rope rises into the air. In your imagination, allow the rope to gently lift you up until your spine is erect. Sit straight, be open, and breathe.
Step Two of Full Wave Breathing
Continue breathing with no pause between inhales and exhale. Inhale and Relax...Inhale...and Relax.
Count 1 as you inhale and expand your lower abdomen in Step One. Count 2 as you lengthen your inhale and push out the middle of your torso at the solar plexus. Release tension and allow the body to exhale and repeat. Perform this exercise anytime to relax. Do not perform connected breathing when driving or operating machinery.
When lying down, place a pillow under your knees, not under your neck. When sitting, allow yourself to stretch and open your spine as you sit and breathe.
Close your eyes as you breathe and then relax for a few minutes when you are done. Allow your breathing to normalize and return to your tasks.
Step Three of Full Wave Breathing
Continue breathing with no pause between inhales and exhale. Inhale and relax...Inhale...and relax.
Count 1 as you inhale and push out your lower abdomen. Count 2 as you raise the breath and energetic focus to your solar plexus. Count 3 as you move your breath and muscular focus up into your chest, stretching your intercostal muscles, shoulders and back of the neck. Relax completely when you exhale, allowing the muscles to soften. There is no effort or tension involved in your exhale.
Close your eyes as you breathe and then relax for a few minutes when you are done. Allow your breathing to normalize before continuing with your activities. Perform this exercise anytime you are sitting passively to provide a quick and effective energy boost and relaxation.
Keep your spine straight if sitting and allow to your body to move as you breathe and relax. Feel the wave of inhale as air enters your body and the wave of exhale as it leaves. Increase the volume of air and pace of breathing and feel how it affects your experience.
Since resolving stress at the cellular level is below our awareness, there are times when the breathing is accompanied by laughing or crying as old chemistry breaks up. Simply keep breathing! Allow your body any movement that arises and remember to relax fully when you exhale, softening all your muscles. Continue breathing at your own pace, deeply and fully.
Maintain your own pace and be willing to experiment. Your pace will normally change from day to day and during a session of Full Wave Breathing. Playing music as you breathe helps keep you focused in a gentle rhythm. The Cosmic Waltz, offered by Inspired Living, is the best I know of for this purpose. It focuses on the heart center and expands relaxation throughout the body.
