The Key To Living Fearlessly is to
Just Breathe!
...and then do the next thing.
Just Breathe! is
the ezine of The International Breath Institute (IBI) sent to you from
Dr. Tom Goode. IBI shows you how to enjoy optimal health through lifestyle
management -- learning to live in alignment with your holistic nature.
We provide shortcuts from science, tips for your health, and reminders
about your breathing.
Content
IBI's web site focuses on Full Wave Breathing
because it is the single most important exercise for your health. Use
it to get well, be well and do well.
Healthcare
Either you take care of your health or you don’t. If
you don’t you become a participant in what is known as “Healthcare.” Healthcare
is a system predicated upon the study of sick people and focusing on how to “fix”
them. It addresses symptoms rather than causes and treats disease as an enemy
to be eradicated.
Self-Responsible Self Care
If illness were a message concerning stressors in your mind and body, as opposed to thinking of illness as an opponent, how would you treat it? Likely you would cooperate with your body using principles based upon natural health. The first place you might start is at the beginning-with the most basic foundation of life, your breath.
Your mind and body work pretty well until you start storing stressors in your breathing muscles. Then you become a shallow breather, creating chronic tension that wears down your immune system. Your blood becomes toxic. Lacking oxygen and energy, your body is unable to defend itself against environmental stressors. The result is disease.
Holistic Practices
The most basic holistic health practice is breathing. Breathing affects everything. Your entire system moves toward greater harmony if it is harmonious. Master your breathing and you master the ability to stimulate your healing resources.
Use your breathing to promote the unimpeded flow of consciousness through every cell in your body. Healing takes place on all levels. Your breathing determines your physical vitality, your emotional calmness, your mental focus and your spiritual awareness.
Today's Challenges - Sweeteners
With Splenda, sugar and aspartame disappearing from the diet of health-conscious consumers, what’s left? Though it cannot be sold as a sweetener and is available only as a "dietary supplement,” Stevia has been safely used for this purpose for centuries. It is potent, however, so only use a little. Also be cautious if you have insulin sensitivity as any sweet substance as well as refined carbohydrates can trigger a rise in blood sugar.
High fructose corn syrup is in virtually all supermarket foods and beverages, including so-called diet products. It is linked to obesity in that it increases appetite by numbing the body’s sense of fullness, it causes people to eat more. It may also be implicated in the increasing number of diabetics in the US. Manufacturers use it because it is inexpensive—for them. For you the cost can be quite high.
Heart Health
Angioplasty and bypass surgery are a $16,000,000,000 a year business for doctors and hospitals. Yet the blockage returns to about half of those undergoing the angioplasty procedure. Better you should clear the plaque-clogged arteries, defuse the danger of heart attack and relieve pain. You can do it with natural substances and avoid drugs, surgery and a radical diet.
Between 1994 to 2000, FDA prohibited companies that sell omega-3 fatty acids from telling Americans that those fatty acids found in fish oil could reduce the risk of coronary heart disease by as much as 50%. FDA’s censorship contributed to a preventable 1.8 million sudden death heart attacks. Stop FDA Censorship. Visit www.stopfdacensorship.org
More on Heart Health
Jon Herring in the Early to Rise ezine gives us this: Australian health researcher Anthony Colpo argues that the focus on cholesterol and saturated fat is costing lives. People are dying because they are not being told about the REAL causes of heart disease: excess omega-6 vegetable oils, elevated insulin and blood sugar, chronic stress, a lack of antioxidants, and a diet of processed foods lacking critical nutrients such as omega-3 fats, magnesium, selenium, zinc, folate, and vitamin D.
The Easy Way
Is your heart a ticking time bomb? Did you know the first sign of heart disease is usually a heart attack or stroke? Find out about a safe, effective method to remove plaque and reverse build-up and without drugs or a radical diet.

Health is a Gift
…that you give to yourself and share with others. One of the ways to gift yourself with health is to drink clean, pure water. Most whole house systems are expensive. Here is one that is affordable, plus they have a shower filter kit:

The Duh Factor (reported by HealthWorldOnline)
A panel of the National Academy of Sciences concluded that
the maximum amount of fluoride currently allowed in the
nation's drinking water can cause health problems and
"should be lowered." The report concluded that children
exposed to four milligrams of fluoride per liter, the
highest allowable level, risk developing severe dental
fluorosis, in which teeth become mottled, pitted and
scarred. Because fluoride can weaken bones, people who
consume water containing that much fluoride over a lifetime
are likely to be at increased risk for bone fractures.
(My comment) There is no such condition as a shortage of fluoride in the human body.
The Duh Factor (from IBI)
When IBI was publishing the Inspired Times monthly newsletter, I began writing the column titled, The Duh Factor.
Here is that first column from November, 2004
IBI receives a large volume of health related magazines, newsletters and email reports. In reviewing this year’s events in the world of health, I continue to be astounded at the information and stories arising from lengthy and costly research that seem to repeat themselves year after year. I classify all of these under what I call the DUH Factor:
People who eat too much and exercise too little generally gain weight
People who exercise are healthier than those who don’t
Eating breakfast is good for you
Eating fruits and veggies is healthful
People with positive attitudes live longer and are happier
The population is getting fatter
Fast foods usually have a lot of harmful fat
Caring for employees and customers reflects favorably on profits
Too little sleep adversely affects your health
Drinking alcohol kills brain cells
Soda is unhealthy
Artificial sweeteners are not healthy alternatives
Vitamin supplements are required.
Diets don’t work long-term, but exercise and eating consciously does
TV (also too much computer time) may eat your brain
Your cell phone does eat your brain
And this, (just in!) feeding rats toxins adversely affects their health
Lousy breathing=lousy health.
While there has been no multimillion dollar study conducted over many years tracking and monitoring tens of thousands of participants , healthy breathing plays a vital factor in disease prevention, treatment, longevity and quality of life. Your breathing affects 85% of your biochemistry so we can deduce that it can be a powerful tool for your overall mindbody health. What’s to study? Endless analysis can lead to paralysis as we search for endless answers to solving the mysteries of living in the 21st century. Scientific detectives examine, smaller and small parts of the whole. The search continues, the puzzle unsolved.
We already know enough to take action in our own behalf. The next drug will meet the next disease and provide no answers because the searchers look in the wrong places—to the form instead of the nature of the human being.
Vitamins, Minerals, Herbs, Tinctures, Oils and Scents
Step one is to understand this: yes, you need a daily multivitamin and mineral supplement -- period, end of story. No matter how healthy your eating habits, it's virtually impossible to get all the nutrition you need from food alone...and given the changes in our bodies as we age, that's doubly true if you're over 50.—W.C. Douglass, MD

Tom’s Tips
Step two is to learn how to muscle-test your mindbody for your supplements, remedies, nostrums, potions, pills, prescriptions and prohibitions. The fastest way I found to do this is described in one of the books IBI carries for you: The Attractor Factor by Joe Vitale.
Why I Write Books
As a child born to older parents I found that most people are nice when they feel good and less so when they don’t feel so hot. Surrounded by childless adult friends of my parents and feeling uncomfortable with harsh expressions of anger, I became a peace-maker, looking for ways to help people around me feel better. My coping mechanism became a career—I look for ways to help people feel better.
One of the best ways to feel better quickly and easily is to shift your internal state (biochemistry) with Full Wave Breathing. It is free for the doing. Pause and take as few as 3 Full Wave Breaths now as you read. You already feel better. Continue with the breathing and your mindbody system begins to naturally harmonize and balance. Easy wasn’t it? Continue and you unwind stored stress with each slow, deep, full breath.
In his Natural Cures book, author Kevin Trudeau states that the cause of disease is environmental toxins, prescription and OTC drugs, food additives and electro-magnetic frequencies (EMF’s). The World Health Organization cites the following effects of EMF’s:
Headache
Fatigue
Stress
Sleep disturbances
Skin symptoms like prickling, burning sensations and rashes
Muscle pains and aches
Now a company called NaturalNano has a special paint which will block unwanted cell phone signals. Paint your bedroom walls with this paint and you will sleep in a room shielded from EMF’s of all kinds, including the TV in another part of the house. Paint your child’s room and, oops, they can’t receive cell phone calls or text messages. Parents, talk to you children before you paint their room and shut down their wireless world!
A Natural Cure
Supposedly 19 million Americans suffer from depression. Did you know depression is a biochemical state that can’t be depressed if you breathe correctly? Full Wave Breathing creates a stress and mood- positive biochemical state that works for you all day and night. Feeling down? OK, this too will pass. Accept that, for whatever reason, there is that feeling and breathe for 15 minutes. No need to run to the therapist; just breathe!
Rare Appearance
Dr. Tom Goode will lead a one-day seminar on April 30 in Cranston RI. Titled, “Bridges of Love,” this is an all-day experience using Full Wave Breathing, music and laughter to increase and refine your energetic vibration, resolve inner child issues and shine more brightly in all that you do. Click here for contact info and to see the flyer.
EXERCISE CORNER:
There is a positive history of breathwork covering over 6000 years. If it didn’t work, people wouldn’t have continued the work! Pranayama, a Hindu word meaning “breath control and life-force connection,” has been around for over 3,000 years and is noted for its ability to positively affect neurochemistry.
Use Full Wave Breathing to inspire yourself so you can inspire others!
Keep breathing!
