What If It Were As Simple As Remembering To

Just Breathe!
...and then doing the next thing?

This month’s ezine gets right to the point by opening with an exercise from Last Month’s Invitation to Divinity Seminar, held at the Radisson Hotel in West Warwick, RI. On Saturday, April 28, the event began with the group being asked, “What (do you think) would happen to your life if you were to participate in an exercise where you allowed love, relaxation and ease to enter the cells of your body?

To make the question more relevant to you as a reader, would you be willing to take a moment and consider--if you were to actually conduct this “experiment” for yourself, using the observed benefits as the only criteria and your experience being the only judge—WHAT WOULD HAPPEN? What if your self-renewal system was stimulated as your body’s parasympathetic nervous system took command of your state of relaxation and ease? What if your system began shedding old, stored stress like a dog losing its winter coat of fur? What if your inner state produced by your directed breathing that sends the signals to your cells to provide your muscles and organ system with both relaxation and rejuvenation?

The natural result for anyone willing to take the action is feeling better and engaging whatever you do in the world with greater ease and effectiveness, and with a calm, productive attitude. Take a “feel good” break throughout the day.

Do you need to feel “bad” to want to feel “good’? Can you feel better even when you are feeling great? Of course you can. See for yourself now. Skip to the bottom of the page and follow the easy instructions for Full Wave Breathing. They are marked this month in Green so you can find them more easily.

As you perform the life-expanding practice of Full Wave Breathing, you are, preparing for and opening to a healthier habit of breathing that will serve you all of your life providing ease and a conscious connection to joy.

One of the benefits to the seminar for me was that I got to do a lot of breathing while I walked and waited in airports, and during my sightseeing adventures. Spring was in the air following a “Nor’easter” that washed away beaches and the emotional climate was just becoming settled. A few workshop participants were back again for more after last year’s gathering.

I asked them why they had returned since I only teach one thing—how to get over your self and get to your Self—using your breathing. They said that they had good results with what I had suggested or that they just wanted more.

The workshop itself was based upon the ideas advanced in the book, The Invitation to Divinity—a mind and perspective-expanding examination of the nature of human existence. Simply put, as all originates from divinity, all is reflective of it. Seeing the divinity in all requires education and practice and the adoption of a non-judgmental attitude. Its specific benefit on the MindBodySpirit system is as individual as is each person.

Just Breathe! The ezine of The International Breath Institute (IBI) is sent to you from Dr. Tom Goode. IBI shows you how to be fully alive and in optimal health through lifestyle management--learning to live in harmony and alignment with your holistic nature.

As a whole (holistic, holy) being you are comprised of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects coordinated within one unitary expression. The four aspects of your mindbodysoul system are examined and described separately for clarification.

Content
IBI's web site focuses on Full Wave Breathing because it is the single most important exercise for your health. Use it to become fully alive--get well, be well and do well.

Read It Over and Over
Some of the information in the ezine is repeated so it becomes ingrained in your consciousness. Each month it changes slightly, becoming more refined and defined. Look for the changes, shifts in emphasis and expansion of ideas in each new issue.

The usual human tendency is to have to hear or read things many times before acceptance sinks in. This very normal process occurs when an idea is first introduced and we discount it. Repeated exposure brings us to acceptance, and finally adoption of the idea. Then changes occur automatically and if by some magical process.

Simple Messages As Well

If you get just the breathing part of the information and use it, you would be able to effectively manage 85% of your biochemistry and boost your mindbodysoul system's natural healing ability. How important would that be in your life? How great do you want to feel?

Healthcare
If you don't take care of your own health you become a participant in what is known as "Healthcare," a system predicated upon the study of sick people and focusing on how to "fix" them. It addresses symptoms rather than causes and treats disease as an enemy to be eradicated.

Self-Responsible Self Care
How would you treat illness if it was not your enemy, and was instead only a message concerning stressors in your mind and body? Most likely you would cooperate with the body using principles based upon natural health. The first place you could profitably begin is with the most basic foundation of life, your breathing.

Your mind and body work pretty well until you start storing stressors in your cells and tissues and in your breathing muscles. The chronic stress makes you become a shallow breather, wearing upon your immune system. Your blood becomes toxic, and lacking oxygen and energy, your body is unable to defend itself against either internal or environmental stressors. The result is discomfort, disease, disability and premature death.

You can practice preventative medicine on your own--by doing the things you know to do to support your autoimmune health: Eliminate toxins, manage toxic emotions, avoid toxic noise and breathe!

Holistic Practices
The foundation of all holistic health practices is deeper, effective breathing, which affects your respiration, circulation, vitality, digestion, assimilation, and more. Breathing affects your entire system. Master your breathing and you master the ability to stimulate your healing resources.

High Blood Pressure, Anxiety and Worry

Have high blood pressure? Use your breathing to promote the unimpeded flow of consciousness through every cell in your body. Healing takes place on all levels. Your breathing determines your physical vitality, your emotional calmness, your mental focus and your spiritual awareness. Practice Full Wave Breathing for 30 days, and you will see your life absolutely transform!

Simple Yet Vital
If you were to "get" the value of breathing and actually employ its daily use as an exercise leading to a healthy habit, you'd be well on your way to avoiding dis-ease and enjoying life more fully. Enjoying life more fully enables you to make a greater contribution to the life process itself.

There is Hope
You will be breathing for as long as you are alive. Doesn't it just make good sense for you to perform it in a way that supports rather than undermines your health? Of course it does! Start today!

You can build a new habit of breathing that enhances instead of diminishes the Life force in your body. How do you think that would improve all that you do—having more energy and feeling more emotionally harmonious?

My desire and hope for you is for you to that you will suspend any tendency toward disbelief and actually test the information presented. When it works—and you be the soul judge—then make it part of your improved life. Thank you for subscribing to Jus Breathe!

Audience
The Just Breathe! ezine's focus is on the mindbodysoul aspects of holistic health. The audience is the awakened, those who know themselves to be multidimensional beings with physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects. It is for those who practice their purpose by living lives of greater enlightenment and service through the pathways of Love, Joy and Peace.

Just For Today!
Follow the instruction at the end of the ezine. You may repeat the exercise tomorrow if you like your result today.

The Soul
If your interest is expanding your consciousness (increasing conscious awareness) as a spiritual being, then this ezine is for you. It is a community (common unity) connection for awakened beings, integrating the wonder of Life. It shares an alternative (holistic) view of human existence intended to expand the mind's understanding...until it feels safe and reassured in its own logic and learns to live from the heart, from the higher consciousness. The result, with the heart and the head working together is operating from "higher" consciousness.

The higher your consciousness, the more whole your life--and the greater is your access to health and happiness. To increase your consciousness just a little is significant because the increase is logarithmic and represents a transformational shift.

Having awakened, the next step is to heal the body so the soul can express most freely its creativity and joy that become the source-connection of transformation for others. The lower body housing the gut brain is harmonized with the head/heart operating as one. The vibratory effect on others is harmonious, uplifting and, in-turn, transformative. One-by-one each part of the whole sound his note until music abounds.

 To review let's look at:

The ABC's of Higher Consciousness

Attitude--Either expectant or repellant; positive or negative; open or closed to Life; and embracing as differentiated from resisting; healing or declining; you can get better or you can get bitter.

Breath--Let your exhale demonstrate the complete surrender to God/Universe of all cares and concerns; becoming non-resistant to the tensions of the body, relax the cells, molecules and atoms. Use your breathing throughout your day, both to re-mind yourself of your spiritual nature, as well as to boost your health and energy.

Choice--Either you listen to the voice for Love or the voice for Fear, that of ego. One knows that all are innocent; the other blames and sees the guilty. Teach your brain to tune into the Love channel; access your essence. Choose to awaken, to understand and to change

Determination--Nothing happens without your dedicated effort. Even something as simple as breathing requires your participation. To achieve more in life, there must be more invested. Usually all that is required is the gift of time. Determine today that, just for today, you will be the determining factor in your life.

Energy—All is energy vibrating at different rates. Each lives, moves and has its being in this Energy. It is called Soul, Creator/Source, God, Universe, All That Is.

Focus—What you focus upon grows. Focus upon the joy in your life, express gratitude daily and move forward to meet your dreams.

Exercise for the Soul
Enter a place of positive attitude within and mentally imagine your connection to the Universe.

1.      Visualize light radiating from the center of your chest. Imagine the light becoming brighter when you inhale.

2.      Imagine unneeded stress leaving as you exhale

3.      Visualize the light within expanding to meet another light that surrounds you. Notice that where the two blend, the color is gold.

4.      Feel your energy system surrounded by this light, connecting you to all other energy systems.

5.      Imagine any unneeded stress leaving you mindbody as you exhale completely, allowing the muscles to soften and the cells to relax.

6.      Imagine that you are smiling as you exhale.

7.   Now, smile as you inhale.

Continue for Seven Minutes or longer.

Commentary

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only." --Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities, 1859.

In 1962, the year after I graduated from college, gasoline was selling for $.31 per gallon. Going into this weekend, the average price has risen to around $3.22 per gallon. $3.22/$.31=10.38. So has gas gone up ten times? The answer is NO. In terms of disposable income, gasoline would have to go to $4.65 to equal what $.31 was worth back in 1962. It all depends on your perspective, doesn’t it? Of course having all the facts is also helpful. And I am thankful I am not paying for gasoline in London or Paris where the price is around $6.50 per gallon.

Choosing for LoveDaily Guidance
On the Path of Relationship

From my view there are two commandments:

  1. Love Me with all of your heart, mind and soul;
  2. Love others as Self.

Thanks go out to our webmaster, Diana, for sending this piece from Kathy Freston, author of The One: Discovering the Secrets of Soul Mate Love  as she shares her rules for true love below.

Rules to Live and Love By

There is potential for soul mate love all around us at every moment. It is a matter of recognizing the connection, sensing the "charge" of energy, and then cultivating a relationship that will take us beyond our present limitations. A soul mate brings us enormous joy and fulfillment, but even more importantly, soul mates lead us into our life's lessons. They get under our skin and push our buttons. They inspire us to look at who we are and where we need to grow.

Whether single, married, or somewhere in between, we can begin practicing masterful ways of relating with whomever stands before us, and in this way, we become better and more enlightened human beings. We can become the love we want to find; we can source it from within.

1. Seeing your partner through the lens of love rather than fear automatically elevates the relationship to a higher plane. When you can get quiet and note when you are projecting fear, you can make the adjustment to see through a different filter. So often we feel indignant or incensed, but upon closer inspection we will find that we are really afraid. Once we assume our partner's core goodness rather than focusing on their "guilt," they will be freer to show us their best, which accelerates the process of shifting our perspective from one of blame and anxiety to one of acceptance and peace.

2. Being willing to forgive yourself and your partner, and to make amends when necessary is an ongoing process of cleanup. We all make mistakes; it's human. But when we hold fast to a grudge it eats away at our sense of peace and serenity. If you aren't willing to forgive, you might ask yourself what habit of ego you're attached to. Do you want to continue life with unresolved issues hanging over you?

When we take a stand and refuse to let go of something, we can always find evidence to justify it. Or we can try to make peace. Instead of blaming or making excuses, we can clean things up and move forward. This is not an excuse for staying in a dysfunctional situation, but an opportunity to see innocence. Once we do that, we gain—or give—freedom to move out of a "stuck" place.

3. Relaxing when times get tough; assuming that "this too shall pass" allows you to roll with the punches. If you know things will inevitably arise to challenge you, you can be more detached when they do. Problems become worse when we dig in our heels and try to force a solution. By relaxing into whatever struggle arises, we remain flexible and open to inspiration and insight.

Even if you have a hard time letting go, you can at least observe yourself taking things very seriously, which in itself helps to detach you from the experience of anxiety. Whatever is happening now won't be happening a year from now, so just keep breathing through the situation and see if you can take things a little less seriously.

4. Seeing in the dynamic of the relationship the reflection of what you need to learn helps bring you back to what is important. Sometimes we get lost in the chatter of day-to-day patterns and lose sight of the soul's mandate to bring us closer to realizing our Oneness. The best way to see where we need to work on things is to observe who we are and what we do within the context of a relationship. Any time you recognize your impulse to create distance rather than intimacy, you can make the adjustment and get back on track.

This relationship, as with all relationships, is part of a curriculum to evolve into our highest potential. We come to know ourselves by how we interact with our partner, and by so doing we come to know Spirit.

5. When you don't know how to handle a problem, pray and meditate, surrendering the decisions to Spirit

Praying and meditating aligns your limited energy with that which is all-powerful. Of course we don’t have all the answers, but by consigning our limitations to our Higher Power, our burden is lifted. We need to be accountable for our words and actions and be willing to work through where we are stuck. We need to stay present and forgive. Beyond that, our creative power is fueled by Spirit. By praying, we ask for help and guidance; by meditating we clear our minds so that the answer will become apparent. By moving aside, we create an opening for God to work miracles in ways we could never imagine.

6. Honoring your partner's path and allow them the space to find their own way sends a clear message of respect. People need to work things out in their own manner and in their own time. If you try to help where help is not requested, you are signaling your lack of belief in your partner. If you back off and assume someone is strong and intelligent, strength and intelligence are what they will likely find.

Although we are all on this path of realization and expansion together, each of us is unique in our lessons to be learned; the way you do something might be totally different than how someone else needs to process a situation. Rest assured that Spirit is at work in all of our lives, and give yourself a rest from overseeing your partner's personal business.

7. Keeping up your personal growth work means you will keep your mind sharp and your awareness keen. Read, study, and attend lectures; don't rest on the laurels of what you think you already know. The moment we think we have it all figured out is the moment things will come crashing down around us. Arrogance leaves no room for intimacy or growth, and is certainly not part of a spiritual curriculum. When you immerse yourself in learning, you will always have new skills and interests to apply to a relationship, and thus the relationship will always feel fresh and relevant.

8. Following the path of your own creativity keeps you attuned to that which moves and inspires you. As you indulge your creative side, you become less dependent on your partner to feel whole. Creative energy is the force that breaks new ground. To sustain love, we need to continually fuel whatever inspires us on the deepest level. Also, creativity balances out the egoic and intellectual side of life; it teaches us to play and have fun. When we engage our passions, we radiate passionate energy and thus maintain the interest of our partner as well as having your own sense of fulfillment.

9. Staying present keeps us in the moment which is where life is. Life does not exist in future predictions or past grievances; all we have for sure is right here and right now. Every moment teaches us something, and if we are busily trying to change or control something we miss the grace intended for us.

By allowing the sacred mystery to unfold without trying to tamper with it, we can move through anything with much more ease and simplicity. As we cease resisting, any so-called negative situation or emotion will have the space to work out. And by the same token, when we are completely alert and aware in any given moment, we are open to the subtle miracles happening all around us. By staying present, we will see our partner for who they are; we will hear clearly their communication and respond to it astutely.

10. Being grateful for what you have zeros in on what is working, which in turn magnetizes more of the same. Where you put your focus is where you direct your creative intention; so if you want abundance, be grateful for the vitality you have now. If you want a soulful relationship, be grateful for the soulful moments. Gratitude is like a seed you plant; it grows more as it is watered and nourished. Show your partner what you appreciate in them and let them know that they have a positive effect in your life. The acknowledgement of good will call forth more of the same.

BREATHE!

The Spiritual Dichotomy

You are either part of the solution or you are part of the problem. You either teach joy or you are part of the problem. You either radiate an uplifting energy or you drag others down.

Use Full Wave Breathing and make your intention to fill all of the cells in your body with Joy. Continue until you can imagine all of the glands, all of the cells and even the molecules dancing inside. Repeat periodically throughout the day. It takes less than a minute to feel better.

The Duh Factor

A committee in Congress has attacked the supplement DHEA based upon animal studies. Apparently they cannot understand that the amounts used in the test would be the equivalent of an average 600 times that of a normal human dosage.

Words of the Wise

"I'm looking forward to looking back on all this." —Sandra Knell

“Before we can know a happiness beyond the reach of conflict or sorrow, we must ourselves be whole; for any happiness apart from self-wholeness is only half a happiness and must, in time, prove itself so.”—Guy Finley

“Wholeness or health is our natural state. The nature of healing involves removing obstructions to this natural state and bringing individuals into alignment with themselves and their world. Free of these obstructions, an individual’s innate intelligence and self-regulating capabilities will guide him toward a state of well-being.”—Richard Carlson, Ph.D.

Where Am I?

Recently I found myself at one of the Walk-In Clinics that are located throughout North Texas. I was there accompanying a friend who was having a routine check-up. After settling into my seat and opening my book, I looked up to see a couple with a child moving into the chairs across from me. The man looked to be in his mid-40’s with blond hair and blue eyes. He was slender and his beard was graying. His wife looked to be in her late teens; though I am not a very good estimator of ages of females. She was also blonde with blue eyes and slender. Their eyes were strange as I observed them more closely. His were squinted as if the light was too bright. Hers, despite her apparent youth, had bags beneath them.

The toddler, certainly under age 2, appeared to be normal with alert eyes. She spent the first twenty minutes looking at me after we had exchanged the initial glances and traded smiles for a few rounds. I wondered briefly why the family was there and quietly went back to my reading.

The next time I looked up there was, to me, a highly unusual event taking place. The mother was tearing open a package of candy and literally stuffing it into her own mouth. It was as if she had been taken over by some force outside of herself and was powerless to not tear at the package in eagerness.

So there I was at the doctor’s office observing the mother gorging on a known addictive and debilitating substance as if she were in a trance. In the meantime, the father had been handed and was consuming the same vile substance that had been loaded into a straw and was intently sucking a flavored liquid from it. He continued, finishing off several straw loads.

Meanwhile, the daughter was now sitting on his knee where he was balancing her with his arm looped around her. One hand continued his communion with the straw while the other held a lollipop that was inserted into the daughter’s mouth. The child, too young to hold the candy, stared straight ahead, alternately swallowing and allowing the sugar drool to pour down her chin.

The brief feeding orgy ended, and the three entered the office to see the physician. I did, however, note that laid out by the exit were more of the poisonous substances so a quick fix could be had by those departing. What a wonderful system to addict people to a substance that compromises their health so they have to employ assistance—and then to reward that behavior by the further feeding and reinforcement of the addiction.

All Is Energy

The whole of ego education is predicated upon there being external dangers from which protection is required. The ego mind that each person creates is thus based in fear. It seeks to defend and will perceive a threat even when one is not visible. You can call this threat worry or anxiety. Whatever you call it, change your mind consciously to:

1.      Alter your biochemistry to a life supporting instead of debilitating state. A negative thought can shift you out of balance. It is an ongoing process.

2.      Take those steps that are in your highest interest. They change throughout the day. Stay awake by putting reminders to breathe around your space until you have created a beneficial habit.

3.      Re-center yourself and quiet your mind. Come back to your body! Breathe, stretch, rest for an instant and resume.

In prior issues we discussed one of the ways to reorient the ego mind away from the fear-based contractive view to the mind of Self—namely, to ask what love would do. You already know that you can rapidly change your state with Full Wave Breathing.

Another method is to take the topic of your worry and imagine the best result possible, visualizing that outcome and, at the same time, smiling. So whenever your ego mind begins to demand your attention and take you away from feeling centered and balanced:

1.      Full Wave Breathe—for as long as it takes to shift your state;

2.      Imagine the best result possible in your worrisome situation

3.      Ask what would love do if a decision is required;

4.      Stretch and feel your body;

5.      Take another Full Wave Breath.

You are a powerful and even magical being, capable of much more that you have thus far been taught or learned. Continue with your practice of Full Wave Breathing and, day-by-day, enjoy the positive result.

What if you could actually direct energy? What would you direct it toward? If you were a unified being, wouldn't you like to direct it to the greatest benefit for all people? Wouldn't that be to express your own fullest potential? Greater enlightenment is the birthright of every soul. The continued expansion of your conscious awareness assures that you are part of the solution to the perceived ails of the world.

Pursuit of ego desires works too--in that it will lead you to conclude that after you have completed your exploration of pleasures, accumulation and worldly pursuits, it is time to fill the emptiness that still resides. The ego path, may, however, be slower and take you several more lifetimes—and can be particularly painful. Re-member your Spirit. It is easy: Just Breathe!

What Others Are Saying

Below are some comments from Full Wave Breathers lifted from Linda Osga’s website: www.thelifebreathinstitute.com

October 15, 2006 was the day that truly moved me. My first experience with the Full Wave Breathing brought me joy, happiness, love of life, love of myself and others. As I relaxed into the breath -- a change came on quickly. The feeling of anxiousness, fright, the fear of being and feeling within myself. I immediately felt a strong, warm hold on my thighs that continued to move to my abdomen and created a deep whirling feeling ( a stirring of energy building stronger and stronger ). My body began to tremble, the emotions flowed, and I felt the energy throughout my body flowing like a river. As the energy ran through my arms, it settled in my hands and left me numb and tingly at the same time. I could not move. I was very surprised that I felt so much so fast. Crying - Laughing - Shaking. When we were winding down to a normal paced breath, I felt a moment of wholeness/lightness. I did feel weak and dizzy when I sat up so, I laid back down for a few more minutes. When I did bring myself to a seated position I felt a rush of energy run down through my left leg straight through the sole of my foot. I couldn't move it. Then it stopped. I felt such a release. It made me SMILE! Realizing that for the past 10 years I've had problems with my left knee due to a complete ACL tear. Prior to this class my knee was very sore due to the buckling that would occur. Since this experience, I have not had any pain or uncomfortable ache in regards to my left knee. Thank you for such an experience. I look forward to continuing and sharing the benefits of FWB with my family and friends.

When I first heard about Full Wave Breathing, I admit, I was skeptical. I wasn’t sure what I was “in for”. I had never been exposed to meditation or yoga and I thought it was similar, so I was curious. Well, what a ride I’ve been on for the past year since my first exposure to Full Wave Breathing, the process has changed my life in every way. I had experienced a past with a lot of what people may call trauma/drama. I experienced anxiety attacks and panic attacks the depression became so severe that there were days that I could not get out of bed so I sought the advice of a medical Doctor. At that time I had been medicated and thought I was doing well, but still feeling empty and lost – I knew I needed something different. When I started the process of breathing daily, my life changed, I started looking at the world a little differently, and it wasn’t so bad, in fact, maybe fun and exciting. I’m not saying that there are not up’s and down’s as you move through the layers of “stuff” but knowing that each time it is a step closer to becoming closer to the real me is worth it. I am grateful every day that I have found Full Wave Breathing to accompany me on my life’s journey.

~Sandi Morse

I was first introduced to Full Wave Breathing by Linda Osga in November 2005. At first I did not fully understand the concept or was I committed to practice it on a regular basis. Linda Osga continued to help me understand the importance of this practice and ask me to attend a workshop conducted by Dr. Goode in April 2006. Attending Dr. Goode’s workshop began the turning point in my life. After a full day discussing, practicing and learning how effective this practice can be, I began practicing Full Wave Breathing on a regular basis…almost everyday. Now you ask, what does it really do….the answer is that it changes your life in many ways. First, the practice of Full Wave Breathing let me spend time on myself which led to better health better attitude and an insight as to the unlimited possibilities and potential that I have within myself. Everyday life can put you in a box where you believe that there is no way out. Full Wave Breathing can change this and lead you into a new direction, a higher level of consciousness, and a state of Well-Being…this is what it did for me. I had nowhere to go but up…in July 2002, was giving 6 weeks to live and 2 years ago after surviving 4 years I was placed on the Heart Transplant List. By April of 2006, I did not have a desire to continue knowing that the pain was getting worse and the quality of life was very poor. Today I have a very positive attitude…I have not received a Heart Transplant and I have survived. I still suffer with pain but my quality of life has gotten much better. I believe now that I will survive and I am thankful I have been able to enjoy life not just live everyday. Feelings inside of me have changed….and believe that Full Wave Breathing has led to that change…..

Hey Linda, I thought you might be interested in hearing this bit of info. I've been seeing a homeopath who uses quantum biofeefback. The last test showed my oxygen level in my body at 48%. She was concerned about the lack of oxygen. I knew it was because I held my breath alot. Well, she tested me today, and my oxygen level is reading 98%. She thinks the breathwork course is definitely a positive step in my life. I also believe it is making a difference. See you sunday.

EXERCISE CORNER:

Full Wave Breathing is a natural, drug-free, and dramatically effective way to experience health, joy and aliveness that mobilizes and supports your progression toward balance and wholeness. It is a method which accelerates and complements modern healthcare and treatment practices. Use it to inspire yourself so you can inspire others!

The Single Most Important Exercise is Full Wave Breathing

There are 3 Steps, simple as A B C: Abdomen, Belly, and Chest. First, breathe into the lower abdomen and keep your focus there until you can comfortably fill and relax that area of the body. Use your muscles to expand your lower abdomen, beginning at the top or your pubic bone. Second, after filling the abdomen (A) shift your focus to your entire belly (B) or midsection, stretching and distending your diaphragm and ribs as you inhale. Relax everything as you exhale. Use your muscles to push out the lower abdomen, then expand the area just above.

Third, filling A & B, shift your focus to your chest (C) and above. Having expanded the lower portions of the body, stretch up into the chest and back. Make all of your physical movements gentle and slow. All the movement to become very subtle and gentle as you alternately inhale and exhale without pause.

You may find it more comfortable to begin with distinct movements of your body. Allow the process to become like a dance of movement from bottom to top, top to bottom. Later, allow your body to remain completely relaxed as you visualize the movement of energy through you.

Repeat often for the most dramatic results. For more detailed instruction, read below:

Step One of Full Wave Breathing

Place one hand on the abdomen below the navel and the other on the chest. As you inhale, hold the chest still; allowing the abdomen to expand as if you is filling a balloon. Stretch and extend the lower belly. Relax completely into an inhale at the point where the abdomen is distended fully and the lungs are filled. After exhaling, inhale immediately. The chest does not move at all.

Continue breathing with no pause between inhales and exhale. All of the emphasis is upon your inhale. The exhale is a release of the tension created during your inhale. So you will Inhale and relax...inhale...and relax. Continue as you read this instruction to see how simple it is to perform. Breathe through your nose or mouth as you desire. You increase oxygenation by over 50% when you breathe through your mouth because of the normal restriction in nostril breathing.

Close your eyes as you are breathing and then relax for a few minutes when you are done. Allow your breathing to normalize before continuing with your activities. You may perform this exercise while sitting at the computer, riding in the car, or even watching television. Start practicing this exercise today and you'll be pleased with your result!

To help you stay focused on your breathing, place a book or weighted bag on your lower abdomen when lying down and performing the exercise. If you are sitting, to keep your spine erect, imagine that a rope is attached to the middle of your head. The rope rises into the air. In your imagination, allow the rope to gently lift you up until your spine is erect. Sit straight, be open, and breathe.

Step Two of Full Wave Breathing

Continue breathing with no pause between inhales and exhale. Inhale and Relax...Inhale...and Relax.

Count 1 as you inhale and expand your lower abdomen in Step One. Count 2 as you lengthen your inhale and push out the middle of your torso at the solar plexus. Release tension and allow the body to exhale and repeat. Perform this exercise anytime to relax. Do not perform connected breathing when driving or operating machinery.

When lying down, place a pillow under your knees, not under your neck. When sitting, allow yourself to stretch and open your spine as you sit and breathe.

Close your eyes as you breathe and then relax for a few minutes when you are done. Allow your breathing to normalize and return to your tasks.

Step Three of Full Wave Breathing

Continue breathing with no pause between inhales and exhale. Inhale and relax...Inhale...and relax.

Count 1 as you inhale and push out your lower abdomen. Count 2 as you raise the breath and energetic focus to your solar plexus. Count 3 as you move your breath and muscular focus up into your chest, stretching your intercostal muscles, shoulders and back of the neck. Relax completely when you exhale, allowing the muscles to soften. There is no effort or tension involved in your exhale.

Close your eyes as you breathe and then relax for a few minutes when you are done. Allow your breathing to normalize before continuing with your activities. Perform this exercise anytime you are sitting passively to provide a quick and effective energy boost and relaxation.

Keep your spine straight if sitting and allow to your body to move as you breathe and relax. Feel the wave of inhale as air enters your body and the wave of exhale as it leaves. Increase the volume of air and pace of breathing and feel how it affects your experience.

Since resolving stress at the cellular level is below our awareness, there are times when the breathing is accompanied by laughing or crying as old chemistry breaks up. Simply keep breathing! Allow your body any movement that arises and remember to relax fully when you exhale, softening all your muscles. Continue breathing at your own pace, deeply and fully.

Maintain your own pace and be willing to experiment. Your pace will normally change from day to day and during a session of Full Wave Breathing. Playing music as you breathe helps keep you focused in a gentle rhythm. The Cosmic Waltz, offered by Inspired Living, is the best I know of for this purpose. It focuses on the heart center and expands relaxation throughout the body.
