What If It Were As Simple As Remembering To

Just Breathe!
...and then doing the next thing?

The Lord’s Prayer is historically attributed as being spoken by Jesus and is repeated in our Western culture from the King James version of the bible, circa 1611. Yet there is more to the story. The King James Bible was based on a Greek version from the 4th century…and the language spoken at the time of Jesus was Aramaic. So what was actually said is significantly different.

Fortunately, Dr. Neil Douglas-Klotz, an expert in the Aramaic Christian, Jewish mystical and Sufi traditions, has translated how the prayer might read if it came directly from the Aramaic:

O Breathing Life, your Name shines everywhere!

Release a space to plant your Presence here.

Envision your “I Can” now.

Embody your desire in every light and form.

Grow through us this moment’s bread and wisdom.

Untie the knots of failure binding us, as we release the strands we hold of others’ faults.

Help us not forget our Source, yet free us from not being in the Present.

From you arises every vision, power, and song, from gathering to gathering.

Amen: may our future actions grow from here!

Just Breathe! The ezine of The International Breath Institute (IBI) is sent to you from Dr. Tom Goode. IBI shows you how to be fully alive and in optimal health through lifestyle management--learning to live in harmony and alignment with your holistic nature. As a whole (holistic, holy) being you are comprised of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects coordinated within one unitary expression. The four aspects of your mindbodysoul system are examined and described separately for clarification. You are already whole and complete!

Content
IBI's web site focuses on Full Wave Breathing because it is the single most important exercise for your health.
Use it to become fully alive--get well, be well and do well. Use it to realize (make real) your holistic nature.

Read It Over and Over
Some of the information in the ezine is repeated so it becomes ingrained in your consciousness. Each month it changes slightly, becoming more refined and defined. Look for the changes, shifts in emphasis and expansion of ideas in each new issue.

The usual human tendency is to have to hear or read things many times before acceptance sinks in. This very normal process occurs when an idea is first introduced and we discount it. Repeated exposure brings us to acceptance, and finally adoption of the idea. Then changes occur automatically and if by some magical process. It is a magical process in that science cannot explain how, as your attitude shifts, the cells respond as if they were conscious and they are.

Simple Messages As Well

If you get just the breathing part of the information and use it, you would be able to effectively manage 85% of your biochemistry and boost your mindbodysoul system's natural healing ability. How important would that be in your life? How great do you want to feel? What would happen if you invested 10% of your time in your spiritual growth? What kind of return do you think you’d receive?

Healthcare
If you don't take care of your own health you become a participant in what is known as "Healthcare," a system predicated upon the study of sick people and focusing on how to "fix" them. It addresses symptoms rather than causes and treats disease as an enemy to be eradicated. Imagine instead that you, instead, observed healthy people and adopted their practices. What might then be the result?

Self-Responsible Self Care
How would you treat illness if it was not your enemy, and was instead only a message concerning stressors in your mind and body? Most likely you would cooperate with the body using principles based upon natural health. The first place you could profitably begin is with the most basic foundation of life, your breathing.

Your mind and body work pretty well until you start storing stressors in your cells and tissues and in your breathing muscles. The chronic stress makes you become a shallow breather, wearing upon your immune system. Your blood becomes toxic, and lacking oxygen and energy, your body is unable to defend itself against either internal or environmental stressors. The result is discomfort, disease, disability and premature death. There is an alternative!

You can practice preventative medicine on your own--by doing the things you know to do to support your autoimmune health: Update your beliefs, eliminate toxins in your food and water, manage toxic emotions, avoid toxic noise and breathe!

Holistic Practices
The foundation of all holistic health practices is deeper, effective breathing, which affects your respiration, circulation, vitality, digestion, assimilation, and more. Breathing affects your entire system. Master your breathing and you master the ability to stimulate your healing resources
. Learn how to harness the mind using your breathing.

High Blood Pressure, Anxiety and Worry

Have high blood pressure? Use your breathing to promote the unimpeded flow of consciousness through every cell in your body. Healing takes place on all levels. Your breathing determines your physical vitality, your emotional calmness, your mental focus and your spiritual awareness. Practice Full Wave Breathing for 30 days, and you will see your life absolutely transform! It is up to you.

Simple Yet Vital
If you were to "get" the value of breathing and actually employ its daily use as an exercise leading to a healthy habit, you'd be well on your way to avoiding dis-ease and enjoying life more fully. Enjoying life more fully enables you to make a greater contribution to the life process itself.

There is Hope
You will be breathing for as long as you are alive. Doesn't it just make good sense for you to perform it in a way that supports rather than undermines your health? Of course it does! Start today!

You can build a new habit of breathing that enhances instead of diminishes the Life force in your body. How do you think that having more energy and feeling more emotionally harmonious would improve all that you do?

My desire and hope for you is for you to that you will suspend any tendency toward disbelief and actually test the information presented. When it works, and you be the soul judge, then make it part of your improved life. Thank you for subscribing to Jus Breathe!

Audience
The Just Breathe! ezine's focus is on the mindbodysoul aspects of holistic health. It is for those who know themselves to be multidimensional beings with physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects. It is for those who practice their purpose by living lives of greater enlightenment and service through the pathways of Love, Joy and Peace.

Just For Today!
Follow the instruction at the end of the ezine. You may repeat the exercise tomorrow if you like your result today. Embrace a more expansive life by embracing your breath. Just for Today

The Soul
If your interest is expanding your consciousness (increasing conscious awareness) as a spiritual being, then this ezine is for you. It is a community (common unity) connection for awakened beings, integrating the wonder of Life. It shares an alternative (holistic) view of human existence intended to expand the mind's understanding...until it feels safe and reassured in its own logic and learns to live from the heart, from the higher consciousness. The result, with the heart and the head working together is operating from "higher" consciousness.

The higher your consciousness, the more whole your life--and the greater is your access to health and happiness. To increase your consciousness just a little is significant because the increase is logarithmic and represents a transformational shift.

Having awakened, the next step is to heal the body so the soul can express most freely its creativity and joy that become the source-connection of transformation for others. The lower body housing the gut brain is harmonized with the head/heart operating as one. The vibratory effect on others is harmonious, uplifting and, in-turn, transformative. One-by-one each part of the whole sound his note until music abounds.

 To review let's look at:

The ABC's of Higher Consciousness

Attitude--expectant or repellant; positive or negative; open or closed to Life; and embracing as differentiated from resisting; healing or declining; you can get better or you can get bitter. Make it a nice day!

Breath--Let your exhale demonstrate the complete surrender to God/Universe of all cares and concerns; becoming non-resistant to the tensions of the body, relax the cells, molecules and atoms. Use your breathing throughout your day, both to re-mind yourself of your spiritual nature, as well as to boost your health and energy. It works!

Choice--Either you listen to the voice for Love or the voice for Fear, that of ego. One knows that all are innocent; the other blames and sees the guilty. Teach your brain to tune into the Love channel; access your essence. Choose to awaken, to understand and to change. Your world will thank you.

Determination--Nothing happens without your dedicated effort. Even something as simple as breathing requires your participation. To achieve more in life, there must be more invested. Usually all that is required is the gift of time. Determine today that, just for today, you will be the determining factor in your life. Repeat this exercise tomorrow.

Energy--All is energy vibrating at different rates. Each lives, moves and has its being in this Energy. It is called Soul, Creator/Source, God, Universe, All That Is. IT is bigger than can be imagined.

Focus--What you focus upon grows. Focus upon the joy in your life, express gratitude daily and move forward to meet your dreams. Your deepest dream is of unity, enlightenment, experiencing oneness, realization, actualization, transcendent consciousness. And not of material things. This is why when you get them, achieve, and succeed, you still hunger for more. The most magnificent dream is to achieve full enlightenment. It is a process that continues after awakening.

Grace--There is a never-ending flow of grace awaiting your awareness so that: Life is more joyous, and the bumps on the path become less disruptive as you learn/remember/awaken into higher mind, beyond that of egoic consciousness. Use your Full Wave Breathing to take you there faster and easier than ever before.

Freedom—In your soul you are breathe. The challenge is to bring that freedom fully into your life through management of your energy. Your beliefs create your emotions and determine your health. How free would you like to be? What beliefs would be required? Adopt them.

Exercise for the Soul
This month’s exercise comes from the instruction manual that would be sent to you if there were, in fact, a product called the Tri-Color Thymus Thumper. (See the article, Why I Am Not and Internet Marketing Superstar, Part 3)

Enter a place of positive attitude within and mentally imagine your connection to the Universe.

1.      Visualize an aqua colored light radiating from within your chest at a point midway between your sternum and the notch at your throat.

2.      As you inhale, imagine this light glowing and pulsing to a count of two and imagine it making the sound of a drum: Thump, thump.

3.     As you exhale, imagine the light pulsing to a count of one and imagine it making the sound of a drum: Thump.

4.   As you continue to breathe with connecting breaths {Thump, thump (pause) Thump} imagine energy being distributed throughout your entire body as you exhale.

5.      Imagine that you are smiling as you inhale.

6.    Now, smile as you inhale.

7.    Imagine that you are smiling as you exhale.

8.    Now, smile as you exhale.

Continue for Seven Minutes or longer, focusing on the space between the sternum and notch at the throat that you imagine being aqua in color.  (Please write to me and let me know of your result with this)

Commentary

I recently read in one of the “spiritual” newsletters I receive that we should release judgment. Well, first on all, I’m not a fan of should. And second, what happens to something you release? Do you think it actually goes somewhere? Of course not, it’s just another form of denial. You may bury it for awhile in the 99.9% of you that isn’t considered conscious; yet, it is still there and will still have an influence on attitudes and activities-- even though you may think you have dealt with the issue.

Let’s say that I have a judgment about people with polka dotted skin. Better I should first accept that judgment as residing within me and thus empower myself to disabuse my perception, enfolding it within, embracing it to see through to its origin in false premise and error thought. Once I can accept it and view it in the light of my true awareness, I then don’t have to release it. All I need to do is change my belief about people with polka dotted skin and it will go away on its own. It will then have found its true place within the whole body of thought within and won’t arise again to bother me or create problems with or for the polka dotted people.

On the Path of Relationship

From my view there are only two commandments:
1. Love Me with all of your heart, mind and soul;

2. Love others as Self.

We are taught to see difference. Learning to see oneness, the problems in relationships begin to disappear. If all is God, what is not Self?

BREATHE!

The Spiritual Dichotomy

You are either part of the solution or you are part of the problem. Yes, you are innocent, and you either teach joy or you are part of the problem. Decide to radiate an uplifting energy and become a contributor to the health and well being of planetary life.

Use Full Wave Breathing and make your intention to fill all of the cells in your body with Joy. Continue until you can imagine all of the organs glands and cells smiling and dancing inside. Repeat the exercise   throughout the day. It takes less than a minute to feel better.

The Duh Factor

In an article entitled, Smog and Mirrors, Wired magazine reports on the 2008 Summer Olympics to be held in Beijing which is so polluted that: “The US Olympic Committee recommends athletes wear mask on and off the field.”

Questions and Answers

Guest columnist Linda Osga (www.thelifebreathinsitute.com)

Q:  I have been studying yoga for some time and want to know what does the Full Wave Breathing do that I would not get from my yoga (Pranayama) breath practices?

A: First, Pranayama, which is the regulation of breath, was designed to help balance the emotions and bring clarity of mind to the practitioner. Many of the yogic breath exercises are very structured in nature with a specific purpose. As a Certified Yoga Instructor, I have felt the relaxation effects of the practices and focused attention which has assisted in quieting the mind.

Full Wave Breathing took it to another level for me. First, the attention to opening the breathing mechanism so that the lower, mid, and upper lobes of the lungs expand fully has markedly increased my oxygen uptake and transport to my cells. This can be felt with increased energy, ability to focus, endurance, complete recovery from chronic physical symptoms and emotional disturbances, etc.

The effects were dramatic. The circular nature of the Full Wave Breath moves energy, so stored trauma and stressors move creating an expansive feeling in both mind and body. The "intention" of the Full Wave Breathing is "Opening to JOY". Combining the breath with such intention has made it the most powerful of breath practices I have ever engaged in.

Also, the "surrender" of the exhale is a concept that opens the "breather" to their expansive nature and opens the door to their higher state of consciousness. In short, for me, it was the most efficient way I have ever found to connect with my higher consciousness and get to a deep meditative state.

Q:  Sometimes when I breathe, my hands get tight and go into a contraction. What does this mean? AND How can I get them to relax?

A: When beginning the Full Wave Breath Practice, some participants may experience these symptoms as a response to the high levels of oxygen. When a body that has taken very low levels of oxygen due to habitual shallow breathing suddenly begins taking in larger volumes, some are not able to assimilate. The carbon dioxide levels plummet as the oxygen levels rise causing the body’s Ph to become alkaline. When this happens, it presents itself in the contraction of muscles (often in the hands and face).

A simple solution is to take an inhale and retain it in the lungs; i. e, hold your breath for as long as you can. When you cannot hold it anymore, exhale and relax your breathing. Rest while your body is balancing out. Repeat this a few times until you can feel your limbs relaxing. When you are comfortable you can resume your practice. Begin slowly---allowing the inhale to be slow and surrender/relax fully on the exhale. Soon you will be able to continue the breathing cycle for longer periods of time as your body becomes more efficient in assimilating the higher levels of oxygen. Remember, this breath practice is intended to feel good! Adjust the duration to fit your comfort level.

Q: Why do I keep falling asleep when I breathe in my practice?

A: This is a common occurrence when someone is starting a Full Wave

Breath Practice and the body cannot process the increased oxygen level and simply shuts down for a break. It can also be in response to the increased flow of energy moving deep rooted trauma that the body processes while in the sleep state. So, take the opportunity to be gentle with yourself and slow down. There is no need to rush the process! Enjoy and have a great nap!

Q. I find myself wanting to breathe more and more. Can you overdo the amount of Full Wave Breathing you do in a day?

A: The short answer is NO. Feeling great can be addictive and the

Full Wave Breath Practice wakes up that inner JOY that naturally feels so wonderful that you just want to continue. So "breath up,” enjoy and let your body be your guide as to how much breathing works for you.

You Are What Eats You!

You’ve likely heard that you are what you eat, referring to your need to consume high quality foods in pursuit of health. It’s even likely that, observing this dictum thrust upon us by well meaning healthy advocates, you have modified your dietary intake to a greater or lesser degree. You may have, at least for awhile, become a vegetarian, vegan, or other abstainer, or turned away from fast foods and toward a more organic and natural fare. If so, I’d like to tell you a story and have you relax a little about what you eat.

One afternoon, experiencing an intense pain in my lower abdomen, I checked myself into the local hospital thinking I was having an attack of appendicitis. I was, after all , 38 and hadn’t had it removed like most of the people I knew. An examination was performed including trying to stuff a tube down my throat that only caused me to gag and want to throw up. Finally, under anesthesia, the exam was completed and I was wheeled back to my room after awakening in the recovery room with a vision or hallucination of my attending physician standing over me and looking down. Nothing usual about that except in my drugged state it looked as if he had a bone through his nose like a member of a primitive tribe somewhere. I should have paid more attention then.

I was diagnosed as having a hiatal hernia and sent home to resume eating  4-6  mini-meals daily--small amounts of food that mostly had no taste, and to eliminate coffee and spices. Yet something didn’t add up. As I researched further, I discover that the hiatus or tear that affects about half the population is located at the point where the esophagus meets the stomach. How come, I asked myself, I hurt in the deep abdomen, the gut, if the tear was some nine inches higher? It didn’t add up. So I went back to the hospital and got my  X-ray, went home and made a light box and inspected further. I could see the small  area of irritation where the hernia was supposed to be ; otherwise, there was nothing.

I did, however, persevere with my diet, unexciting and unsatisfying though it was. One afternoon a couple of days later I was reflecting about what I knew then (not much) about what was called psychosomatic symptoms. What if, I thought, it wasn’t what I was eating and that my discomfort was only a symptom of something else, something that was going on inside of me? So I asked myself what was eating me?

That question prompted a discovery of the source of irritation, a reassignment at work. I was in corporate sales at the time and I had achieved what was thought to be the impossible task of selling over 200% of my quota. My reward for all of my hard work was to have my territory cut in half and it was eating at me. I literally could not stomach the injustice that was being done to me.

Once I saw my choices, either live with it or quit since I’d already complained both verbally and in writing, my gut relaxed. That same afternoon I treated myself to my (then) favorite food, pizza with plenty of peppers along with a cup of coffee and never again experienced another symptom.

I never got my territory back either. I did, however, get a skewed kind of revenge. I broke all of the company’s sales records and quit to assist others with reclaiming their health in a world of growing stress.

Keep breathing!
Tom

WHO AM I?

You are spirit experiencing the apparent evolution of human consciousness. Every day is a step along your spiritual path that leads to your Self.

EXERCISE CORNER:

Full Wave Breathing is a natural, drug-free, and dramatically effective way to experience health, joy and aliveness that mobilizes and supports your progression toward balance and wholeness. It is a method which accelerates and complements modern healthcare and treatment practices. Use it to inspire yourself so you can inspire others!

The Single Most Important Exercise is Full Wave Breathing

There are 3 Steps, simple as A B C: Abdomen, Belly, and Chest. First, breathe into the lower abdomen and keep your focus there until you can comfortably fill and relax that area of the body. Use your muscles to expand your lower abdomen, beginning at the top or your pubic bone.

Second, after filling the abdomen (A) shift your focus to your entire belly (B) or midsection, stretching and distending your diaphragm and ribs as you inhale. Relax everything as you exhale. Use your muscles to push out the lower abdomen, then expand the area just above.

Third, filling A & B, shift your focus to your chest (C) and above. Having expanded the lower portions of the body, stretch up into the chest and back. Make all of your physical movements gentle and slow. All the movement to become very subtle and gentle as you alternately inhale and exhale without pause.

You may find it more comfortable to begin with distinct movements of your body. Allow the process to become like a dance of movement from bottom to top, top to bottom. Later, allow your body to remain completely relaxed as you visualize the movement of energy through you.

Repeat often for the most dramatic results. For more detailed instruction, read below:

Step One of Full Wave Breathing

Place one hand on the abdomen below the navel and the other on the chest. As you inhale, hold the chest still; allowing the abdomen to expand as if you is filling a balloon. Stretch and extend the lower belly. Relax completely into an inhale at the point where the abdomen is distended fully and the lungs are filled. After exhaling, inhale immediately. The chest does not move at all.

Continue breathing with no pause between inhales and exhale. All of the emphasis is upon your inhale. The exhale is a release of the tension created during your inhale. So you will Inhale and relax...inhale...and relax. Continue as you read this instruction to see how simple it is to perform. Breathe through your nose or mouth as you desire. You increase oxygenation by over 50% when you breathe through your mouth because of the normal restriction in nostril breathing.

Close your eyes as you are breathing and then relax for a few minutes when you are done. Allow your breathing to normalize before continuing with your activities. You may perform this exercise while sitting at the computer, riding in the car, or even watching television. Start practicing this exercise today and you'll be pleased with your result!

To help you stay focused on your breathing, place a book or weighted bag on your lower abdomen when lying down and performing the exercise. If you are sitting, to keep your spine erect, imagine that a rope is attached to the middle of your head. The rope rises into the air. In your imagination, allow the rope to gently lift you up until your spine is erect. Sit straight, be open, and breathe.

Step Two of Full Wave Breathing

Continue breathing with no pause between inhales and exhale. Inhale and Relax...Inhale...and Relax.

Count 1 as you inhale and expand your lower abdomen in Step One. Count 2 as you lengthen your inhale and push out the middle of your torso at the solar plexus. Release tension and allow the body to exhale and repeat. Perform this exercise anytime to relax. Do not perform connected breathing when driving or operating machinery.

When lying down, place a pillow under your knees, not under your neck. When sitting, allow yourself to stretch and open your spine as you sit and breathe.

Close your eyes as you breathe and then relax for a few minutes when you are done. Allow your breathing to normalize and return to your tasks.

Step Three of Full Wave Breathing

Continue breathing with no pause between inhales and exhale. Inhale and relax...Inhale...and relax.

Count 1 as you inhale and push out your lower abdomen. Count 2 as you raise the breath and energetic focus to your solar plexus. Count 3 as you move your breath and muscular focus up into your chest, stretching your intercostal muscles, shoulders and back of the neck. Relax completely when you exhale, allowing the muscles to soften. There is no effort or tension involved in your exhale.

Close your eyes as you breathe and then relax for a few minutes when you are done. Allow your breathing to normalize before continuing with your activities. Perform this exercise anytime you are sitting passively to provide a quick and effective energy boost and relaxation.

Keep your spine straight if sitting and allow to your body to move as you breathe and relax. Feel the wave of inhale as air enters your body and the wave of exhale as it leaves. Increase the volume of air and pace of breathing and feel how it affects your experience.

Since resolving stress at the cellular level is below our awareness, there are times when the breathing is accompanied by laughing or crying as old chemistry breaks up. Simply keep breathing! Allow your body any movement that arises and remember to relax fully when you exhale, softening all your muscles. Continue breathing at your own pace, deeply and fully.

Maintain your own pace and be willing to experiment. Your pace will normally change from day to day and during a session of Full Wave Breathing. Playing music as you breathe helps keep you focused in a gentle rhythm. The Cosmic Waltz, offered by Inspired Living, is the best I know of for this purpose. It focuses on the heart center and expands relaxation throughout the body.
